Die Studie Joseph Joachim von Schnizers zeigt einen unbekannten Soldaten im Profil nach links in württembergischer Uniform. Das Blatt entstand vermutlich im Zusammenhang mit einem seiner Gemälde zu den napoleonischen Feldzügen Württembergs. Es könnte sich um die Vorzeichnung für eine der Hintergrundfiguren im Reiterporträt "General Stockmayer zu Pferd im Gefecht" handeln, das von Schnizer um 1825 gemalt hat (vgl. Abbildung in Otto Fischer: Schwäbische Malerei des 19. Jahrhunderts, Stuttgart 1925, S. 79).
