Den linken Arm auf einen Sockel gestützt, die rechte Hand im Gestus erhoben, zeigt das Kniestück den Mediziner, Anatomen und Chirurgen Justus Christian Loder. Auf seine Tätigkeit weist eine Tafel links im Hintergrund hin, auf der eine anatomische Zeichnung zu sehen ist. Als Vorlage für den Stich diente dem Stuttgarter Künstler und Akademieprofessor Johann Gotthard Müller ein Gemälde von Johann Friedrich August Tischbein.
