Der prachtvoll gestaltete Stich ist dem Andenken an den württembergischen Philosophen, Baumeister, Mathematiker und Hofrat Georg Bernhard Bilfinger gewidmet. Als Vorlage für das am oberen Rand von Akanthusblättern gerahmte Porträt diente ein Gemälde von Wolfgang Dietrich Majer, das den auch international sehr geschätzten Gelehrten sitzend in Halbfigur schräg von links gesehen zeigt. Vor ihm auf dem Tisch sind Gegenstände positioniert, die auf sein Wirken verweisen. Die mit einem Wappen gekrönte Kartusche unterhalb des Porträts nennt Bilfingers Lebensdaten sowie seine Ämter.
