Reiterating his signature gesture of alternating, 8.7cm bands of colour, Daniel Buren once more makes use of his celebrated visual tool, created in 1968, for these site- specific works in marble, stone, and granite. The Arabescato T marble from Italy, Azul Bahia marble from Brazil, and Blanc Thasos marble from Greece each lend their name to the works that make up this series, begun in 2015. The titles refer us back to the work’s origins, to its essence, and rekindles the memory of the marbles’ native habitat, giving these site-specific works their full meaning.
