Am 25. September 1838 heiratete Franz Seraph Stirnbrand in Linz an der Donau die Witwe Friederike Guther, geb. Hartmann (1797-1879). Sie war die Tochter des Paläontologen Friedrich von Hartmann (1797-1851) und brachte aus ihrer Ehe mit dem Stuttgarter Kaufmann von Guther eine Tochter, Karoline, mit in die Ehe. Das Porträt zeigt Friederike Stirnbrand im Brustausschnitt vor dunkelgrünem Hintergrund, leicht ins Dreiviertelprofil nach rechts gewendet. Von dem hochgeschlossenen schwarzen Kleid mit Spitzenkragen hebt sich die lange goldene Kette ab, zu der sie passende lange Ohrhänger trägt.
