In einer Parklandschaft, in deren Hintergrund rechts ein Pavillon zu sehen ist, sitzt Julie Duvernoy (1828-1853) an einem Tisch. Sie hat den Kopf leicht auf ihre linke Hand gestützt und blickt die Betrachtenden offen an. Auf dem Tisch vor ihr liegen ein Korb mit Strickzeug, eine Rose sowie ein gemusterter Kaschmirschal. Wie auch das blaue Seidenkleid mit zarten Spitzen an Kragen und Ärmeln, das sie trägt, kennzeichnen diese Attribute und das räumliche Umfeld sie als wohlhabende bürgerliche Frau. Franz Seraph Stirnbrand malte Julie Duvernoy in Halbfigur, im Dreiviertelprofil von links. Zu dem Porträt gibt es ein Pendant, das ihren Ehemann Ludwig Duvernoy zeigt. Julie Duvernoy war die Tochter von Henriette Sophie Marianne und Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Hartmann, der Kaufmann in Stuttgart war.
