Die Grafschaft Mömpelgard war 1407 durch kluge Heiratspolitik an Württemberg gefallen. 200 Jahre später ließ Herzog Friedrich I. (reg. 1593-1608) diese Hochzeit von Graf Eberhard IV. von Württemberg (reg. 1417-1419 ) mit Henriette von Montbéliard-Montfaucon (1384/1391-1444) im Bild darstellen. Er hatte zunächst nur Mömpelgard regiert, aber nach dem Tod seines Onkels, des kinderlosen Herzogs Ludwig (reg. 1568-1593), übernahm er auch die Herrschaft in Stuttgart. Die Bedeutung von Mömpelgard für das Haus Württemberg - so wird klar - ist die einer dynastischen "Reserve". Das Gemälde wird Georg Donauer zugeschrieben. Es ist in der Schausammlung "LegendäreMeisterWerke" im Alten Schloss ausgestellt.
