Alice Haarburger zeigt auf diesem undatierten Gemälde die Stuttgarter Markthalle von innen von einem erhöhten Standpunkt aus - möglicherweise von der Treppenanlage oder der Balustrade im Obergeschoss. Die bunten Marktstände mit Blumen und Früchten stehen im Kontrast zu der hier schmucklos gezeigten Architektur und den wenigen, dunkel gekleideten Menschen. Die von Martin Elsässer entworfene Markthalle wurde 1914 errichtet.
