Flusslandschaft mit tiefliegendem Horizont, Wiesen und Pappeln. Am wolkenverhangenen Himmel fliegen drei Vögel. Es handelt sich um eine typische Altrheinlandschaft des Speyerer Künstlers Karl Philipp Spitzer (1887-1959), die um 1950 entstand. Spitzer schenkte das Gemälde den befreundeten französischen Eheleuten Vagner zur Geburt ihres Sohnes Guy im Jahre 1950. Der Vater war damals bei der französischen Militärverwaltung angestellt. Guy Vagner, der heute westlich von Paris wohnt, hat das Gemälde in Erinnerung an seinen Geburtsort 2020 dem Historischen Museum der Pfalz geschenkt. Das Gemälde ist ein sprechendes Erinnerungsstück für den frühen freundschaftlichen Kontakt zwischen deutschen und französischen Familien in der Nachkriegszeit.
