Kungens skyddsängel visar ödets gudinna Lachesis symboler för skilda dyg- der, vilka skola nystas in i livstråden. Dessa symboler utgöras av tre böcker (religion, lagskip- ning och historia), Minervas kask och sköld (vishet och förstånd), Apollos lyra (de fria kons- terna), Merkurius stav (klokhet och erfarenhet), svärdet och vågskålarna (rätvisan) harnesk, fana och spjut (krigskonsten) och Herkules klubba (tapperhet, styrka och makt).
