1968 is the year of RKF's assassination and of OJ Simpson's Heisman trophy win, and he and his teammates, highlight in blue, rub shoulders with grinning US politicians, a heady mixture of sports and the body politic. The wives, including Lady Bird Johnson and Mrs Spiro Agnew, inhabit a separate universe on the sheet. A pressure gage, a spark plug and a jigsaw point to impeding change on the American scene.
