A Walk at Dusk (Washingtonia Robusta/Mexican fan palm) is a video that documents a walk across Trump’s golf course in California while I am scattering seeds of palm trees indigenous to Mexico. The Mexican fan palm is from Baja, but has become synonymous with the iconic landscape image of LA. This is an attempt to turn Trump’s golf course landscape (wasted water, uniform green lawns, artificial ponds) into a landscape of Northern Mexico. The video is titled after a painting from the 1830s by German romantic Caspar David Friedrich that hangs in the Getty Center in LA.
