The use of abstracted form to depict the structure of a landscape was a theme frequently visited by British artist Liam Hanley. Painted with his distinctive soft colour palette, Tidal shows an abstracted, almost surrealist viewpoint of the coast. Looking out towards a stormy sea, the layered, organic curves of the landscape appear to mimic the undulating waves of the water, or movement on a sailing ship.
