A drawing dating from the same year (with some additions by a later hand) of this scene is in the Bodel Nijenhuis collection in the University Library of Leiden. A second drawing from the other direction is in the Graphische Sammlungim Städelschen Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt, (inv./cat 3335). In the background can be made out the tower of the Grote Sint Jacobskerk. We are grateful to Charles Dumas for pointing out the existence of the drawing in Leiden and for confirming he will include this hitherto unknown painting in his forthcoming catalogue raisonné on the La Fargue family.
