Dit kleurrijke gezelschap viert feest. Rechts achteraan zitten een heer en een dame wat stijfjes naar de levensgenieters te kijken. Merkwaardig is het uiltje boven hun hoofd. De uil was destijds een symbool voor domheid, dronkenschap en schijnheiligheid. Jan Steen dreef hier waarschijnlijk de spot met de zogenaamde vroomheid van zijn tijdgenoten.
