Het bombardement van Algiers, op 26-27 augustus 1816, met de schepen die een bombardement uitvoeren in de nacht. Het bombardement van Algiers door de gecombineerde Engels-Nederlandse vloot, onder commando van Lord Exmouth en Baron van der Capelle, was bedoeld om het ultimatum tot vrijlating van Europese slaafgemaakte mannen in Noord-Afrika te ondersteunen. Dergelijke slaafgemaakten stonden bekend als 'christenslaven'.
