Den 5 juni 1931 invigdes Stockholms Observatorium i Saltsjöbaden. Det var då ett av de största och bäst utrustade observatorierna i Europa. Arkitekt, Axel Anderberg. Forskarna flyttade i juni 2001 till nya lokaler i AlbaNova universitetscentrum vid Roslagstull.
