Långshyttans bruk är det enda av Husby sockens ursprungliga bruk som fortfarande lever kvar. Inom det nuvarande industriområdet har järnframställning pågått sedan 1400-talet. Verksamheten vid Långshyttan utvecklades snabbt. Här tillkom gjuteri, mekanisk verkstad och götvalsverk. Senare byggdes martinverk och elektrostålverk. Det första rostfria stålet i Sverige framställdes i Långshyttan 1921.
