Landshövdingsresidenset i Luleå är det enda i landet som är byggt i trä. Huset är uppfört i två våningar och är byggt i liggande timmer. Huvudbyggnaden flankeras av två flyglar. I den södra fanns ursprungligen länsstyrelsens förvaltningslokaler medan den norra var uthus och drängbostad. Södra flygeln är fortfarande kontor, medan den norra huvudsakligen innehåller rekreationslokaler. eN ombyggnad 1922 resulterade främst i en förändring av exteriören.
