När kraftverksbygget vid Harsprånget återupptogs 1945 inkvarterades arbetsstyrkan till en början bland annat i de byggnader som fanns kvar från det första bygget drygt tjugo år tidigare. Den nya Harsprångsstaden började byggas 1946 och rymde under sin högkonjunktur (1949-50) runt 2100 personer. Det var ett modernt folkhemssamhälle som växte upp. Det fanns sjukstuga, Folkets hus, affärer, post- och telefonhus, två skolor och restaurang.
