Att den här stenen står uppställd vid kyrkan idag har sin särskilda historia. När man hittade Sö204 i södra kyrkoväggen vid en restaurering, beslöt man att den skulle sitta kvar för att inte skada den ytterligare. När nischen var ordnad, var man ändå tvungen att skydda den mot vatten och fukt från marken. Därför grävde man ett dike utmed väggen mot väster - DÅ hittade man den här stenen! Den låg i vågplanet alldeles under marken med ristningsytan uppåt, och det är platsen för den tidigare huvudingången. Troligen har stenen varit en tröskelsten, eftersom ytan är så kraftigt nedsliten.
