Jan Michielsen

Jan Michielsen (1939–2010) was a Dutch visual artist born in Breda. He studied at the Academy of Art and Design St. Joost in Breda, where he later also taught. Michielsen worked across several disciplines, including painting, drawing, etching, lithography and engraving. His work is predominantly figurative and demonstrates a strong interest in traditional craftsmanship and careful observation. His subjects include landscapes, still lifes, architecture, animals and birds. His paintings often employ a restrained palette and detailed, naturalistic treatment, reflecting the influence of the Dutch and Flemish painting tradition.
