Die Lithografie zeigt Fürstin Marie von Scherbatoff, die als Ehefrau des russischen Legatssekretärs Wladimir von Scherbatoff zeitweise in Stuttgart weilte. Sie ist stehend, mit locker vor dem Körper verschränkten Händen dargestellt, den Betrachtenden den Kopf zugewandt. In ihrer rechten hält sie einen geschlossenen Fächer. Carl von Kurtz signierte und datierte das Porträt unten rechts. Unterhalb der Darstellung ist das Blatt in brauner Tinte über Bleistift mit einer Widmung an die Gräfin Zeppelin versehen. Zu dem Kniestück der Fürstin existiert ein Pendant, das ihren Ehemann Wladimir zeigt (Inv.-Nr. 9050/02898).
