Die Lithografie zeigt Fürst Wladimir von Scherbatoff, der als russischer Legatssekretär zeitweise in Stuttgart wirkte. Er ist stehend, den Körper ins Halbprofil nach links gedreht, dargestellt. Der Kopf ist den Betrachtenden zugewandt und erscheint im Dreiviertelprofil. Die linke Hand hat der Fürst in den Aufschlag seiner Weste geschoben, die rechte in seine Hosentasche. Carl von Kurtz signierte und datierte dieses Kniestück unten links. Unterhalb der Darstellung ist das Blatt in brauner Tinte über Bleistift mit einer Widmung an den Grafen Zeppelin bezeichnet. Zu dem Porträt des Fürsten existiert ein Pendant, das seine Ehefrau Marie zeigt (Inv.-Nr. 9050/02899).
